Cool-down time does not follow capacity
It is the most surprising figure in this family and the one you cannot deduce from the sales sheet. Measured by the manufacturer for pulling down to 6 °C with 32 °C ambient: the 68 L model takes up to 55 minutes, the 108 L up to 110, the 118 L up to 70 and the 238 L up to 120.
That is, the 118 L cools faster than the 108 L, even though it is larger. If the work involves loading material at room temperature and needing the chamber back in regime soon, it is worth choosing by this number and not by liters.
Recovery time, by contrast, is common to all four: up to 15 minutes to return to 8 °C after opening the door.
All four have an electrically heated glass door
The heating element in the glass keeps it from fogging or frosting over, so the contents can be seen without opening. In a laboratory refrigerator that is not cosmetic: every opening is a temperature excursion, and seeing before opening reduces them.
The test port and the USB come as standard
The test port is where a reference probe goes in to verify the temperature with your own instrument, which is what any qualification calls for. The USB port allows the record to be pulled out.
The set of alarms is also standard on all four: high and low temperature, thermostat failure, open door and power failure with 8 hours of backup. RS485, printer and temperature logger remain optional.
Two details that change from model to model
The interior is painted steel on the 68 and 108 L models, and drawn aluminum on the 118 and 238 L ones. And casters come as standard only on the 238 L: the other three are installed in a fixed position.
Power draw goes from 85 W on the 68 L to 162 W on the 118 and 238 L, with R600a refrigerant and automatic defrost across the whole family.
