One shelf on the 450 L and six on the 1000
It is the difference that defines this family and the one that explains its name. The 450 L declares a single shelf: the rest of the volume is left clear, which is what you need when a chromatography system is going inside and not a collection of bottles.
The 1000 L comes with six shelves, so it takes both: equipment down below and material on the shelves. Before choosing, it is worth measuring the equipment that will go inside, because the usable interior of the 450 L is 580 × 613 × 1325 mm and that of the 1000 L, 1100 × 684 × 1325 mm.
The 1000 L opens through two doors
Two electrically heated glass doors, against a single one on the 450 L. With a system connected inside, that matters: you can reach one half without opening the other or exposing the whole volume.
Power draw and times do not scale alike
The 450 L draws 220 W and pulls down to 6 °C in up to 70 minutes with 32 °C ambient. The 1000 L draws 300 W and takes up to 100 minutes. More than twice the capacity costs 36% more power, but half an hour more to reach regime.
Recovery time after opening the door is up to 15 minutes on both.
What both bring alike
Precision of 0.1 °C, uniformity of ±2 °C and stability of ±3 °C. Copper-tube condenser and evaporator with aluminum fins, R290 refrigerant, automatic defrost and casters as standard.
The set of alarms is the complete one —high and low temperature, thermostat failure, open door and power failure with eight hours of backup—, and the test port and the USB port are included. RS485, printer and logger remain optional.
